Teaching at Nazareth

1 ^aJesus went out from there and *came into ^{▼▼Or His own part of the country
,} ^cHis hometown; and His disciples *followed Him. 2 And when the Sabbath came, He began ^dto teach in the synagogue; and ^{▼▼One early ms many listeners}the ^fmany listeners were astonished, saying, “Where did this man learn these things, and what is this wisdom that has been given to Him, and such ^{▼▼Or works of power}miracles as these performed by His hands? 3 Is this not ^hthe carpenter, ⁱthe son of Mary and brother of ^{▼▼Or Jacob}James, Joses, Judas, and Simon? And are ^kHis sisters not here with us?” And they took ^loffense at Him. 4 Jesus said to them, “ ^mA prophet is not dishonored except in ^{▼▼Or his own part of the country
,} ^ohis hometown and among his own relatives, and in his own household.” 5 And He could not do any ^{▼▼Or work of power}miracle there except that He ^qlaid His hands on a few sick people and healed them. 6 And He was amazed at their unbelief.
